About us

The Basingstoke Cavaliers emerged in the 1980s as a full-contact American Football team. Shortly after their inception, they rebranded as The Hampshire Cavaliers, quickly earning a reputation as a fierce, relentless squad that never backed down. In the late '80s, the team was under the guidance of two Super Bowl-winning coaches from the Kansas City Chiefs, Tom Pratt and the late Howard Mudd. Their leadership transformed the Cavaliers into a formidable force, leading them to an impressive 10-0 record and a Conference championship that season. Fast forward to today, and our Founder and Head Coach, who was once coached as a player under Tom and Howard, envisioned reviving football in Basingstoke. Inspired by the excitement of Flag Football, he decided to reestablish the Basingstoke Cavaliers. The team is set to thrive not only from the Head Coach's wealth of experience but also from the expertise of two former Great Britain players who have joined the coaching staff.
